A reflection on the Gospel for the EPIPHANY

God Appears to us in many ways. But the signs from God can often go unnoticed if we fail to pay attention or do not look for it, in the same way the kings looked. Epiphany is the manifestation of God. It could have seemed absurd to the kings, as well as the shepherds that God would reveal himself in the form of a poor child, born in a stable. And yet, that is our light and our faith. The feast of the Magi, which is celebrated so highly in our countries, is not about something sweet or folkloric, a festivity intended only for children. It is the truth of God, which is manifesting itself in those who desire it and in events that can appear to be mostly insignificant. It is a light that calls everyone, rich and poor. But we must seek it and have the wisdom to follow the true light. The wise, those who seek God with all their heart, find a light and follow it, in spite of obstacles, difficulties and threats. And therein is their true wisdom.

Happy New Year 2008

The popular saying is “New year, new life”, a year has ended, that has left us with happyness, triumph, failure, bad plans, moments of satisfacion because we reached our goals. All of this makes us think that we should make an evaluation, an exam of concience of our life, goals and dreams.

The great big companies, commerce, government, organizations world wide, reach a moment that they have to do an evaluation. We see establishments, important offices announcing to the public that they are closed for inventory, because they are short or they have to do an audit etc… What is it that they are really evaluating? What comes in, out gains or loses, or strategies so they can plan their goals.

In politics, in the military, in the social economic and diplomats, all of them have social responsibilities with the world, good or bad they have to make evaluations of the past and to make the future better.

Now lets talk of how indespensable it is for the human being to do a religious evaluation, spiritual, and moral, now that the year is about to end and we make new propositions for the new year. We have a debt and a big responsibility with God to do it conciencely.

Was my year spiritual? Did I feel thankful and did I recognized everything that God gave me this year that is ending? What could I have done but didn’t do because of negligense? In what do I feel satified because I reached with my hard work my goal for this year? What is my goal for the coming year? Will these questions be enough to please and do God’s will.

Happy New Year, filled with prosperity and blessings!
